Trip Planning

This trip will be the first time the 8 of us will be traveling together. It is a trip of a lifetime and we are all looking forward to this adventure.

Day #1

Our travel plans will begin on Friday June 17, 2022 and we are to depart Los Angeles International (LAX) at 4:55 PM Pacific time and arrive at London Heathrow (LHR) in England at 11:35 AM local time on Saturday June 18.


Day #2 
Then we have a four and 3/4 hour layover in London and then depart London (LHR) at 4:15 PM and fly to Glasgow Scotland (GLA) and arrive at 5:45 PM local time.


Once we arrive in Glasgow, we are to collect our luggage and rental cars and head to the rental house in Dullatur Scotland at approximately 7:30 PM local time. 


Day #3
On Sunday 6/19 (Fathers Day) the Freemans are headed to Edinburgh to tour the city, Edinburgh  Castle, visit the Kelpies and back to the Dullatur House.


Day #4
Our plans on Monday 6/20 include driving from the Dullatur House to Fort William to travel on the Jacobite Train (the same steam locomotive used in the Harry Potter movies = Hogwarts Express). This train will take us from Fort William over the Glenfinnan Viaduct to Malliag and return and spend the night in Fort William.


Day #5
On Tuesday 6/21 the Treece's are returning to the Dullatur House while the Freemans will travel north to Urquart Castle, Loch Ness, Inverness, Culloden Battle field, Fort George and then to a B&B in the Highlands.  

Day #6
On Wednesday 6/22 the Freemans will tour the Speyside Cooperage facility and then tour the Glenlivet Scotch Whiskey distillery and finally visit Stirling Castle before returning to the Dullatur House.


Day #7
On Thursday 6/23 the whole group of us are traveling to Glasgow to tour the city.


The Freemans will then fly from Glasgow to Belfast Northern Ireland.


We are picking up our rental car and headed to our B&B Causeway Tavern.


Day #8
On Friday 6/24, the Freemans will visit the Giant's Causeway, drive back to Belfast and tour the city, and then drive south to stay in a B&B in Portumna.
 

Day #9
On Saturday 6/25, we are headed to the Cliffs or Moher, Blarney Castle and then to our next B&B called Ballinwillin House in Mitchelstown.


Day #10

On Sunday 6/26 we head to Dublin and tour the city and them fly back to Glasgow Scotland and drive back to the Dullatur House.


Day #11

On Monday 6/27 all of us are headed back to Glasgow to tour the city again and meet up with the Davidsons family for dinner at the resturant called The Citizen.


Day #12

On Tuesday 6/28 the Freeman kids fly back to Los Angeles and Alex and Jasmine will continue to fly back to Maui on Weddnesday June 29.


Day #13

Wednesday 6/29 is open.

Day #14

Thursday 6/30 we are renting a canal boat to travel the Falkirk Wheel and Union canal.

Day #15

Friday 7/1 is open.

Day #16

Saturday 7/2 is open.

Day #17

Sunday 7/3 Scott & Audra will fly bak to Los Angeles while the Treece's stay for 10 more days.


Now this was the plan, lets see how it all turned out......

Day #4 = June 20, 2022 - Hogwarts Express!

We are headed out for our first long adventure. Mom & Bud will join us for the first and second day as we continue north to Loch Ness.  We all boarded the Jacobite Train aka Hogwarts Express in Fort William and headed to Mallaig. We have no idea what is at the other end, we just wanted an adventure.  The countryside views were amazing, of course! The train ride was putting everyone to sleep. We finally arrived in Malliag.  However, there is nothing in Mallaig except for a Harry Potter giftshop.  And it was raining so everyone on the train was seeking shelter in the local pubs and restaurants, which were full! We made the best of it as we waiting for the train to go back to Fort William.  The countryside scenery was just as awesome going the other direction. I took two iPhones and held them back to back so you could experience the view from both directions.    We returned to Fort William and stayed at the Garrison Hotel. We found a local pizza place...

Day #3 = June 19, 2022 - Fathers Day

So today is Fathers Day and we have planned for a special day. We purchased Scotland Explorer passes that will allow us to visit any Scotland Historical site for one week! This pass does not require a reservation for the visit nor a reservation for parking.     So first thing in the morning we went to the Scottish Capital Edinburgh and explored Edinburgh castle. This sword was giant! Maybe 6 feet tall! The weather was awesome and the views spectacular.  Several weeks ago all the Freemans (and Freeman to be Nicole) decided to get Scottish themed tattoos while we are in Scotland. Each one of us designed our own unique tattoos.  After a lot of research, emails and messaging, I was able to find two tattoo shops close to the Dullatur house in Edinburgh that could accommodate all six of us within a four-to-five hours time slot between 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Fathers Day. Day #2 = June 18, 2022 - Traveling Part 2

  We have arrived at London Heathrow airport LHR at 11:15 AM local time on Saturday 6/18/22.  It is now 3:13 AM back in Los Angeles! So we had to go through London Heathrow airport security when we arrived. Since Mom and Bud had taken a different route, Audra and I had their carryon baggage to lighten their load.  Well, when we got to the screening area, we were told to remove certain liquids and medicines and place them into plastic bags. Well, that was awkward since Audra and I had NO IDEA what Mom and Bud had in their carry on bags! We did our best but it was not good enough. Bud's bag was stopped for extra screening and the security officials required me to throw away these two products from Bud's bag: Several of the kids also had to go through th eextra screening and their bags were opened and examined. I took photos of all this chaos. However, a security official came to me and required that I delete the photos AND delete the deleted photos as well! London takes the...
